Everybody loves a few travel facts and our New Zealand Travel Snapshot gives you a brief idea of what to expect when planning a holiday to New Zealand. Read on below as we expand on our travel bites…

Best Time To Travel – The best time to visit New Zealand is during the summer months of December to March, which bring long, bright and sunny days and temperatures of 16°C to 24°C. They’re ideal for visiting the lovely beaches or enjoying the many outdoor activities available, such as hiking and mountain biking.

Capital City – The capital of New Zealand is Wellington. It has been the capital since 1865.

Currency – The national currency in New Zealand is the New Zealand Dollar. The approximate exchange is $1 = $1. It’s pretty much the same as the Aussie dollar (at time of publishing).

Approximate Travel Time – Being so close to us the approximate flight time s only 3 hours.

Religion – New Zealand is nominally Christian, with Anglican, Roman Catholic, and Presbyterian denominations being the largest. Other Protestant sects and Maori adaptations of Christianity (the Ratana and Ringatu churches) constitute the remainder of the Christian population.

Famous Dish – Traditionally, Māori people cooked in earth ovens called ‘hāngī’. Good food is central to the spirit of hospitality. There are few experiences that rival sharing a feast cooked in a traditional Maori hāngī (earth oven), a centuries-old cooking method perfect for feeding a crowd and bringing a community together.

Visa Required – No.

Fitness Level – There is a lot of driving on our tours, whether they are escorted or self drive so a low level of fitness is required. Unless you opt to climb a glacier or other strenuous optional acitivties!
