Day 1: Depart Australia ~ Arrive in Sri Lanka

Today, you’ll begin your journey to the beautiful island of Sri Lanka! Upon arrival at Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be greeted by your driver and transferred to your Hotel in Negombo. Most flights from Australia arrive late at night (from 10:30 pm onwards). After reaching your hotel, check in and head straight to bed for a good night’s rest.

Day 2: Colombo City tour ~ Welcome Dinner

This morning, after breakfast, meet your chauffeur/guide and fellow travellers at 10:00 am for a warm welcome and a brief introduction to the day’s activities. Begin your Sri Lankan adventure with a panoramic tour of Colombo, the island’s vibrant commercial and cultural capital. Discover some of the city’s key landmarks and highlights, including the historic Fort and Pettah districts, Independence Square, the Old Parliament area, Galle Face Green and the scenic waterfront. SIGIRIYA LION'S ROCK

 

Sigiriya operates on a single entrance ticket system. The entrance fee is required to enter the archaeological site, which includes:
  • The Water Gardens
  • The Boulder Gardens
  • The Fresco area
  • The Lion Platform
  • The climb to the summit
There is no separate or reduced ticket for walking only around the base of the rock. Without purchasing a ticket, guests cannot enter the Sigiriya grounds.
What can non-climbers do?
If guests choose not to climb and do not buy a ticket, they usually:
  • Stay outside the ticketed area
  • Spend time near the Sigiriya Museum exterior, cafés, shops, or shaded areas
  • Relax and enjoy views of the rock from outside the site
We can also arrange a tuk-tuk tour around Sigiriya Rock, allowing guests to see it from different angles. Cost is $30 AUD and bookable / payable upon arrival, please ask your tour guide to organise this.
If part of the group climbs and part doesn’t:
This is quite common. Typically:
  • Climbers enter the site and complete the visit
  • Non-climbers wait outside at nearby cafés or seating areas
  • The guide agrees on a clear meeting point and time after the climb
