Description
Discover a different side of Mongolia on this 10 Day Mongolia Small Group adventure, travelling from the vibrant capital of Ulaanbaatar deep into the spectacular landscapes of the Gobi Desert. Begin with Mongolia’s rich history and Buddhist heritage at Sukhbaatar Square, the Chinggis Khaan National Museum and Gandan Monastery. Then, journey across the vast steppe to Baga Gazariin Chuluu, where dramatic granite formations, narrow canyons and sweeping semi-desert scenery provide your first glimpse of Mongolia’s remarkable wilderness.
Continue south to the striking Tsagaan Suvarga, or White Stupa, where colourful limestone cliffs rise dramatically from the Gobi plains. Afterwards, explore Yol Valley in Gobi Gurvansaikhan National Park, trekking through a spectacular canyon surrounded by towering rock walls and rugged mountain scenery. Next, experience one of Mongolia’s most iconic landscapes at the immense Khongor Sand Dunes. Climb the famous Singing Dunes for panoramic desert views before visiting a local camel-herding family and enjoying a camel ride across the Gobi.
Your Mongolia Small Group journey then continues to the legendary Flaming Cliffs of Bayanzag, renowned for their glowing red sandstone formations and links to Mongolia’s famous dinosaur discoveries. Travel onwards to the peaceful ruins of Ongi Monastery before reaching historic Kharkhorin, once the capital of the mighty Mongol Empire. Here, visit Erdene Zuu Monastery and the Kharkhorin Museum to discover more about Mongolia’s fascinating imperial and Buddhist history.
Finally, return towards Ulaanbaatar with a visit to the Mongol Nomadic Ger Camp for an immersive cultural show showcasing traditional nomadic life, including livestock herding, horse training, felt making, dairy production and traditional music. Enjoy some final time in the capital before a farewell dinner brings your unforgettable Mongolia Gobi Desert adventure to a close.
