Day 1: Oslo, Norway ~ Embark Ship
Welcome to Norway! Our adventure starts in the vibrant capital city, Oslo.
If you arrive early, take some time to explore the city before we board the ship. Head into the city centre to see the impressive Town Hall (Rådhuset), the Royal Palace, and Oslo Cathedral – perfect for a few great photos.
In the afternoon, we’ll board our ship and get settled into our cabin or suite. Once everyone is on board, we’ll meet our friendly Expedition Team who’ll be guiding us through exciting lectures and activities throughout the trip.
Later, join your fellow travellers in the two-level panorama lounge, and enjoy views of Oslo’s sparkling lights as we set sail.

Day 2: At Sea
Today is all about relaxing and settling in as we cruise along Norway’s stunning southern coastline.
Take time to get comfortable in your cabin and explore the ship. Sample delicious Norwegian coastal cuisine in one of the ship’s three restaurants or unwind with a drink in the bar. It’s also a great opportunity to meet your fellow travellers.
Enjoy the ever-changing views from the spacious Observation Deck, the cosy two-storey lounge and bar, or even the panoramic sauna while you take in the scenery.
This part of the coast has plenty of fascinating tales to tell. Learn more about the region and what’s ahead on our journey through engaging lectures, presentations, and activities hosted by the Expedition Team throughout the day.

Day 3: Stavanger
Today we arrive in Stavanger, a vibrant and colourful coastal city with a lively cultural vibe and international charm.
Wander through Gamle Stavanger (Old Stavanger), home to Northern Europe’s best-preserved wooden houses. Be sure to visit Norway’s oldest cathedral, which dates back to the 12th century.
If you’re keen to explore more, you can visit the fascinating Norwegian Petroleum Museum, browse through boutique shops, or sit back with a local beer on the waterfront. Optional excursions are also available, including a guided city walk and a Viking-themed bus tour.

Day 4: Ålesund
After breakfast on board, we arrive in the scenic town of Ålesund, spread across a chain of small islands.
Many of the town’s colourful buildings are designed in the Art Nouveau style, popular in the early 1900s. For stunning views of the town and surrounding archipelago, head up to Mount Aksla viewpoint – perfect for photos!
Another highlight is the Atlantic Sea Park, Norway’s first marine science centre and one of Northern Europe’s largest saltwater aquariums. It’s home to a wide range of sea life including seals, otters, crabs, and even Humboldt Penguins – a rare sight this far north!
Optional excursions include a walking tour of Ålesund’s charming streets or a scenic bus tour to explore the nearby islands and visit a beautiful lighthouse by the beach.

Day 5: Rørvik
Today we visit the cosy fishing town of Rørvik, nestled in the beautiful Vikna archipelago. It might be a small place, but it’s full of history and charm, with fascinating museums that tell stories of the past and the future.
Join an optional excursion to experience a journey through 10,000 years of coastal life. Explore Ice Age landscapes, 19th-century homes, and modern-day salmon farming – all showcased in three excellent local museums.
In the afternoon, we’ll continue sailing north through the Vikna archipelago, a maze of 6,000 islands, islets, and reefs. Thanks to the mild maritime climate, the gardens here bloom with plum and apple blossoms in spring – even at 65°N!
As night falls, we sail away from the Helgeland coast and cross the Arctic Circle, marking a new and exciting phase of our journey.

Day 6: Svolvær & Stokmarknes
Today we explore the incredible Lofoten Islands. With towering mountain peaks and charming fishing villages nestled along the shore, it’s easy to see why this region is often called one of the most beautiful in Norway.
In the morning, we dock at Svolvær, the largest town in the Lofoten archipelago, located on Austvågøya island. The town is full of life with plenty of shops, restaurants, galleries, and cafés to discover. Don’t miss the view of the famous Svolvær Goat – a rock formation that looks like a goat with horns!
You’ll have the option to join several excursions, including winter fishing, kayaking along the coastline, or a guided bus tour to learn more about Lofoten’s unique culture and history.
Later, we head to Stokmarknes, an important town in Hurtigruten’s history. This is where the Coastal Express began back in 1893, founded by Richard With. Here, you can visit the Hurtigruten Museum, home to the original 1956 MS Finnmarken, now preserved inside a huge glass structure shaped like a ship in a bottle.

Day 7: Tromsø
Welcome to Tromsø, a lively Arctic city located 217 miles north of the Arctic Circle. With its trendy cafés, boutique shops, local crafts, and even high fashion, this northern hub has a lot to offer.
We’ll be in port here for around eight hours, giving you plenty of time to explore on your own or join one of the optional excursions.
You might like to visit the Polar Museum, which shares stories of Arctic hunting and exploration. Or head to Polaria, an Arctic-themed aquarium where you can see seals and other marine life. Across the water, you’ll spot the striking Arctic Cathedral, famous for its bold design and colourful stained-glass window.
This is also a great spot to tick off some bucket-list activities. Join a dog sledding adventure through snowy landscapes or explore Tromsø on a guided bus or e-bike tour.

Day 8: Honningsvåg
We arrive early in the morning at Honningsvåg, giving us a full day to explore this beautiful Arctic town. Up here in the far north, winter is long and snowy – perfect for amazing scenery and winter adventures.
Join your Expedition Team for a snowshoe hike across the white plains and enjoy the sound of snow crunching under your feet. If you’re up for it, try one of the optional excursions like ice fishing, a classic northern pastime. You can also taste fresh king crab, a local delicacy caught all year round in these icy waters.
The main highlight here is a visit to the famous North Cape, one of the northernmost points of mainland Europe. With views over the Barents Sea, snow-covered cliffs, and dramatic Arctic scenery, it’s a must-see and available as an optional tour.
Honningsvåg marks the northernmost point of our journey. From here, we turn around and begin our voyage back south in the evening.

Day 9: Alta
Welcome to Alta – located at 70° north, this town sits well above the Arctic Circle and is known as one of the best places to see the Northern Lights. Make sure your camera is ready!
You can join an optional excursion to learn more about life in Alta, see ancient UNESCO-listed rock art, and visit the stunning Northern Lights Cathedral. Inside, you’ll find a fascinating exhibition on how Alta became a key centre for Aurora Borealis research in the 19th and 20th centuries.
With deep snow in winter, Alta is ideal for true Arctic adventures like dog sledding. Even when there’s no snow, you can enjoy this experience on wheels. Another must-see is the famous Igloo Hotel, built every year from 250 tonnes of snow and ice on the banks of the Alta River. Decorated with beautiful ice sculptures and wall carvings, it’s the northernmost ice hotel in the world.

Day 10: Narvik
Today we arrive in Narvik, beautifully located on a peninsula where three fjords meet. Originally built as an ice-free port to export iron ore, Narvik is now known for its World War II history and outdoor adventures like skiing, dog sledding, and hiking.
Join an optional excursion to the Narvik War Museum to learn about the town’s dramatic role during World War II through interactive exhibits and powerful stories.
For incredible views of the town and surrounding fjords, take the cable car up to Narvikfjellet – perfect for photos and a breath of fresh mountain air!

Day 11: At Sea
Today we continue cruising south along Norway’s breathtaking coastline. As we sail, you’ll pass wind-swept islands, peaceful bays, and some of the world’s most beautiful fjords. Keep an eye out for local wildlife – you might spot majestic Sea Eagles soaring above.
When Hurtigruten first started sailing north of the Trøndelag region back in 1893, much of this coastline was uncharted. Since then, we’ve become true experts in navigating this part of Norway. Today, very few ships can guide you through the maze of skerries, islets, and hidden fjords like we can.
This is a perfect day to relax on board, enjoy the views from the Observation Deck or lounge, and join any presentations or activities run by your Expedition Team.

Day 12: Åndalsnes
This morning, we dock right in the heart of Åndalsnes, a beautiful town nestled along Isfjord at the end of Romsdalsfjord.
What makes Åndalsnes truly special is the dramatic mountain scenery that surrounds it. The towering peaks have made this a favourite spot for hikers, climbers, and skiers. One of the area’s most famous natural features is the Troll Wall, a massive vertical cliff rising 1,000 metres from the Romsdalen valley.
To take in the stunning views, you can enjoy a guided town walk followed by a ride on the Romsdal Gondola. This scenic cable car takes you to the top of Nesaksla Mountain, 708 metres above sea level, where you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Romsdalshorn peak, the town below, and the winding Rauma River.
If you’re a fan of scenic rail journeys, don’t miss the chance to ride the famous Golden Train, described by Lonely Planet as “the most scenic railway journey in Europe.”

Day 13: Bergen
Today we arrive in Bergen, Norway’s second-largest city, surrounded by seven mountains and the sea. Once the country’s capital, Bergen is full of history and charm.
Take a walk through the UNESCO-listed Bryggen district, with its colourful wooden wharfs dating back to the 14th century. You’ll also want to visit Bergen’s famous fish market, where you can see, smell, and taste fresh seafood – some of which can be cooked on the spot just for you.
For stunning views over the city, take the Fløibanen funicular to the top of Mount Fløyen. From the summit, enjoy panoramic views of the city, the fjord, and the nearby mountains.
If you prefer, join an excursion to Mount Ulriken, the tallest of Bergen’s seven mountains. This cable car tour also includes a visit to Fantoft Stave Church, a beautiful replica of a 12th-century Viking-era church.

Day 14: Kristiansand
We spend our final afternoon in Kristiansand, Norway’s fifth-largest city, located on the country’s southern tip. This modern coastal town offers both rich history and exciting efforts toward a greener future.
Kristiansand aims to become Europe’s most sustainable port. You can learn more about this on an optional Green Walking Tour, which includes a visit to Odderøya Island, known for its coastal scenery and cultural landmarks.
If you’re interested in wartime history, consider joining the optional tour to Batterie Vara, a former German fort built during World War II. The site is home to the world’s second-largest cannon ever mounted on land and offers insight into Norway’s military past.
Back on board, we celebrate the final night of our journey with a farewell dinner. It’s the perfect chance to share stories, exchange photos, and toast to new friendships and unforgettable memories.

DAY 17: Voss ~ Gudvangen ~ Flåm
After breakfast, make your way to the Voss bus terminal. Here, you will board a comfortable bus bound for the picturesque village of Gudvangen. The scenic bus ride will take you through stunning landscapes, providing a preview of the natural beauty that awaits you.
Upon arriving in Gudvangen, you will be dropped off conveniently close to the ferry terminal. From here, embark on an unforgettable cruise along the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord. As you glide through this breathtaking fjord, marvel at the towering mountains, cascading waterfalls, and quaint villages dotting the landscape. The serene beauty and majestic views make this cruise a highlight of your journey.
Once you arrive in Flåm, make your own way to your hotel to check in. After settling in, you have the rest of the day to explore at your own pace. DAY 18: Flåm ~ Flam Railway ~ Mydal ~ Oslo
After breakfast, make your way to Flåm Train Station to begin the first leg of your journey on the spectacular and world-famous Flåm Railway. This incredible train ride will take you through some of Norway’s most stunning landscapes, offering views of deep ravines, cascading waterfalls, and picturesque fjord scenery.
As the train winds its way up the mountains, you’ll marvel at the engineering feat that created this steep and scenic railway. The journey includes a brief photo stop at the breathtaking Kjosfossen waterfall, where you can capture the beauty of this natural wonder.
Upon reaching Myrdal, you’ll transfer to the Bergen Railway, one of the best train journeys in the world, for the next leg of your trip. This segment of your journey takes you from the mountains to the vibrant city of Oslo. The train will traverse Northern Europe’s highest stretch of railway, passing through the wild mountain terrain of the Hardangervidda plateau and offering views of the Hardangerjøkulen glacier.
As you descend into the wooded valleys and open countryside, the scenery gradually changes, showcasing Norway’s diverse landscapes. Enjoy the comfortable and relaxing ride as you approach Oslo.
Once you arrive in Oslo, make your way to your hotel to check in. After settling into your accommodations, you have the rest of the day to spend at your leisure.
