Currency – The national currency in Türkiye is the Turkish Lira. The approximate exchange is $1 = 4.9 Turkish Lira. Mastercard and Visa are widely accepted and withdrawals from ATM’s are recommended so you can makes purchases in the local currency.
Approximate Travel Time – The approximate flight time to Türkiye from Australia is 16 hours. Flights are available with an assortment of the larger carriers including Etihad, Qatar, Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Qantas and Malaysian Airlines. There are no direct flights.
Religion – 98% of people living in Türkiye are muslim. In 1982 the constitution established Türkiye as a secular state providing freedom of belief, freedom of worship and the private dissemination of religious ideas.
Famous Dish – Türkiye is famous for its Baklava – a rich, sweet dessert pastry made with layers of filo filled with chopped nuts and sweetened and held together with syrup or honey.
Visa Required – Yes. when travelling to Türkiye, Australian citizens will require a tourist visa. You can apply online prior to your departure.
