TOUR INFORMATION

 

LUGGAGE:

Soft bags are required with a maximum of 12kg per person due to limited vehicle space. Hard suitcases are not allowed. A small day pack is recommended for daily essentials.

 

TRANSPORT:

Travel in custom built safari vehicles with forward facing seats, designed for long distance touring and wildlife viewing. Vehicles are air cooled rather than fully air conditioned, suited to safari conditions and game viewing. Travel includes sealed and unsealed roads, with rough and dusty conditions in parts of the journey.

 

ACCOMMODATION DETAILS:

Accommodation varies by location and includes lodges, guest houses and tented camps. Facilities are comfortable but can be simple in remote areas. WiFi is limited and not available in all locations.

 

MEALS & DRINKS:

20 breakfasts, 17 lunches and 12 dinners are included. Meals are a combination of lodge meals and meals prepared by your guides, often enjoyed in communal settings or around a campfire. Lunch is usually light and picnic style. Bottled drinking water, soft drinks and alcohol are not included. Safe drinking water is available from the vehicle supply or can be purchased locally.

 

INCLUSIONS:

National park entry fees, game drives and key sightseeing are included as per the itinerary, ensuring a comprehensive Southern Africa experience.

 

OKAVANGO DELTA:

Where applicable, travel into the Okavango Delta is by mokoro canoe. Accommodation is in en suite tented chalets at a remote lodge, offering an immersive wilderness experience.

 

DIETARY REQUIREMENTS:

Special dietary requirements, including vegetarian or allergies, must be advised at least 2 weeks prior to departure. While efforts are made to accommodate requests, options may be limited in remote areas.

 

WIFI & POWER:

WiFi and mobile coverage are limited in remote areas. Power supply may be restricted and charging opportunities are not always available.

 

HEALTH & MEDICAL:

A reasonable level of fitness is required. Some long travel days and early starts should be expected. Travel includes malaria risk areas, so medical advice is recommended prior to departure.

 

TRAVEL INSURANCE:

Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory and must include cover for medical expenses, evacuation and repatriation.

 

VISAS & ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Passports must be valid for at least 6 months beyond travel with sufficient blank pages. Visas may be required for countries visited. It is the traveller’s responsibility to check requirements prior to travel.

 

SPENDING MONEY:

Allow approximately $20 to $40 per person per day for optional activities, drinks, tips and personal expenses. Cash is recommended for small purchases, particularly in remote areas. USD is widely accepted, with local currency used in some locations.

 

TIPPING:

Tipping is not included and is at your discretion. As a guideline, AUD$5 to $10 per person per day for your tour guide is recommended, with smaller amounts for local guides and activities.

 

OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES:

A range of optional activities are available throughout the tour at additional cost, including scenic flights, rafting and wildlife experiences. Prices are subject to change and payable locally.

 

CLOTHING & PACKING:

Casual, practical clothing is recommended. Neutral colours are best for wildlife viewing. Comfortable walking shoes, sun protection and insect repellent are essential.

 

SAFETY & LOCAL CONDITIONS:

Guests must follow all guide instructions at all times, particularly during wildlife activities. Travel is through remote regions where standards and service levels differ from Australia. Patience, flexibility and a sense of adventure are essential.

 

SECURITY:

Guests are advised not to bring valuables and to take normal precautions with personal belongings throughout the journey.

If unable to select new dates, a credit valid for 12 months may be offered.
